I am a Banana!

I went to Shanghai around winter 2008. Many people there spoke to me in Chinese due to my apperence. But I don’t understand at all 
some were surprise when I spoke english to them. When I tired to speak Chinese to them (just starting) in the bad chinese lang, they also don’t understand me and get angry to me.
Some chinese called the people like me “Banana” …
Why?
Can u imagine Banana?
Outside is yellow skin, inside is white skin. A lot of chinese who born in outside of China can’t speak chinese. When they come to china, they speak bad chinese.
I learn this story from Germany guy who was the expat in HK for 38 years in HB. He told me that I might be adapt myself a lot in China though I look like chinese , but different already.
I told him..no worries…I born in Monkey year , I love to eat Banana. But I might be OLD BANANA. 
But I do believe I could speak Chinese accent well due to my grandmother spoke Funan (local chinese lang) to me when I was young. Some kind of connection.
Hope I can get along well with Chinese

I always suspected that you were a banana from the day I met you. I admit you could talk and walk. Bananas cannot do this, so I was a bit confused. Is it possible for bananas to do this?? Not sure, because in Chronicles of Narnia, and also in Lord of the Rings, even tress can walk.
Today you have confirmed that you are a banana. It means I get good sleep today because I don’t need to think about this mystery.
